Men's 03-04
Season Outlook: Carl Lederman, junior tennis phenom, has shown great improvement over the past few years and will be one of Haverford’s most consistent performers. Junior Sang Park, hailing from Seoul, Korea, has also shown steady improvement during his time at Haverford and will provide stability at #4. Sophomore David Poolman, following in his older brother’s footsteps, will no doubt continue to be a reliable and hardworking contributor to Haverford’s squash success. Although his style is less than conventional, converted racquetball player sophomore Sam Morgan will be expected to continue his high flying ways to victory this season. Joining the others will be senior Adam Foye and junior Justin Slawson, who have been consistent performers in the past and will be called on to continue their solid play this season. While it seems that Haverford’s home courts this season are located in Annapolis, with three weekends scheduled at Navy, Haverford has the privilege of facing a number of new teams this season, with matches scheduled against Illinois, Utah, UNC, and Air Force. However, all look forward to the annual Haverford Squash Tournament held on Valentine’s Day this year. Competitors will include Bard College, Penn State, and Columbia, who will participate in Haverford’s only home match of the season. Leading the Bears this year will once again be Sean Sloane,
the highly respected Haverford tennis coach, CSA official, and former
teaching professional. Unbeknownst to most, Sloane is a descendant of
the royal family of Ireland, but has chosen to coach instead of a life
of royalty. The Haverford community is honored to have Sloane and hopes
he never chooses to become king of Ireland!
