Season Outlook: With the addition of several highly ranked players in to the squad this is one of the best Penn teams for the last 5 or 6 seasons. The Quakers look to improve off their 7th place finish in the 02-03 season, but have realistic goals, with the understanding of the challenge in breaking into the top echelon of Intercollegiate competition. With the bulk of last years squad returning and a host of new players, competition for a spot in the squad will be fierce. But with the enthusiasm of all the new players the team have high hopes of an exciting season with the quakers moving up to challenge the very best. The
Returning Core: Jacob Himmelrich, So. Baltimore MD, Played as high as 2 last year and emerged as one of the teams most improved players. Had a great freshman year and looks to build on his improvement. Eric Bardawil

Bassett (Swarthmore, Pa.) was a four-year letterwinner and two-time Ben Ende (Philadelphia, Pa.) finished his high school career ranked in the top five of the U-19 national rankings. A first-team all-conference selection and varsity captain at Germantown Friends, Ende also won the 2003 PSRA Sportsmanship Award. Gilly Lane (Wyndmoor, Pa) joins the Quaker roster as the reigning U.S. National U-19 champion. Lane, who also won national titles at the U-15 and U-17 levels, recorded an 85-4 high school record en route to winning two Mid-Atlantic Squash Association championships at Chestnut Hill, where he was a five-year letterwinner and captain. Lane also earned four letters in both soccer and baseball. Sam Peelle (West Hartford, Conn.) was a five-year letterwinner and captain at Kingswood-Oxford. Peelle, who was ranked as Kingwood-Oxford's top player throughout his career, was a three-time team MVP and a four-time recipient of the Kingwood-Oxford Sportsmanship Award. He also earned three varsity letters in tennis. Ryan Rayfield (Linwood, N.J.) finished his high school career ranked No. 21 in the U-19 national rankings. He was also a two-time letterwinner in crew at Mainland Regional. Will Simonton (Wilmington, Del.) finished the 2003 season as the No. 1 player at Phillips Academy (Mass.). A four-year letterwinner, Simonton is ranked 14th in the U-19 national rankings. As a junior, he was the No. 1 junior in Massachusetts, the 2002 Massachusetts Closed champion and winner of three national tournaments.
